Electronic Arts Inc. and EA SPORTS have announced the upcoming release of Super Mega Baseball 4, a highly-anticipated baseball game that offers immersive gameplay and the series’ signature humorous style. Launching worldwide on June 2nd, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, with cross-gen and cross-platform play.
For the first time in the series, Super Mega Baseball 4 will feature more than 200 legendary baseball professionals, such as David “Big Papi” Ortiz, Jose Bautista, Babe Ruth, and Hank Aaron, playing alongside the beloved Super Mega League All-Stars. Baseball Hall of Famer David Ortiz will also be the first cover athlete for the series.
Scott Drader, Studio Director and Senior Producer at Metalhead Studio, expressed the team’s excitement for the newest chapter in the Super Mega Baseball series, made possible with the support of EA SPORTS. Drader believes that the game offers something for everyone, whether they are a longtime SMB player or a new fan looking to connect with friends around their love for the sport.
Super Mega Baseball 4 includes new features across foundational modes such as Exhibition, Franchise, Pennant Race, Season, and Online Leagues. The game introduces Baseball Legends, with over 200 legends integrated across the game. Players can compete in a league of baseball legends or create a unique roster with the new Shuffle Draft feature.
For the first time, the game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with cross-play in Pennant Race and Online Leagues on new platforms and existing ones. The game also incorporates top community requests, such as automatic walks and runners, two-way players, expanded bullpens, customizable free agent pools, and more, to add new gameplay depth.
The visual and audio aspects of the game have been significantly upgraded, featuring authentic, cinematic baseball powered by new cameras, cutscene animations, and lighting. The crowd, voiceover, and foley audio also receive a significant upgrade, and an all-new soundtrack with licensed and original music is introduced.
Players can pre-order the Super Mega Baseball 4 Ballpark Edition to receive three-day early access and three additional stadiums. EA Play members on Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam can also unlock a 10-hour trial of the game starting on May 30th.
