SQUARE ENIX has dropped some major intel on Dawntrail, the upcoming fifth expansion pack for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. Slated for a Summer 2024 launch, this expansion is no slouch, coming packed with a plethora of new content that’s bound to get the community buzzing.
Dawntrail’s New Kid on the Block: Meet the “Viper”
First up is the introduction of the first new job for this expansion—Viper. Naoki Yoshida, the game’s Producer and Director, made this reveal at the FINAL FANTASY XIV Fan Festival 2023 in London. A new teaser trailer also surfaced, showcasing the Warrior of Light flexing their muscles as Viper, the close-range dual-wielder. These dual-wielders can switch things up by combining two one-handed blades into a formidable two-handed weapon.
Teaming Up with Final Fantasy XI: Echoes of Vana’diel
Adding spice to the mix is the Echoes of Vana’diel, an all-new alliance raid series. This new addition comes as part of the game’s crossover with FINAL FANTASY XI.
Expanding Horizons: New Cities, Areas, and Tribes
Dawntrail isn’t just about jobs and raids; it’s also about exploring new terrains. Players can look forward to the new city Tuliyollal and new regions like the tropical Kozama’uka and the arid Shaaloani. Accompanying this is the introduction of a new allied tribe, the Moblins, who reside in Kozama’uka.

Aside from fresh jobs and areas, the expansion will offer an assortment of core battle content like FATEs, Hunts, and Treasure Hunts. Players can also expect additional dungeons and new threats such as the Eliminator. The level cap will see a bump from 90 to 100, giving players more room to grow and excel.

For those keen on aesthetics, Dawntrail has something special for you. The game is undergoing its first-ever graphical update, promising improvements in screen-wide aesthetic appeal, higher resolution textures and shadows, and enhanced material qualities.
