A New Chapter Begins with Unique Stories and Fresh Content
Ubisoft’s medieval combat game, For Honor, is stepping into its eighth year with the introduction of Forged in War, starting on March 14. This new year of content promises to enrich the gaming experience with four distinct seasons, each spotlighting standalone stories related to special weapons emblematic of For Honor’s diverse factions. Additionally, the game is set to receive two converted maps aimed at expanding its Dominion map repertoire, beginning with the Cathedral map in Season 1 Title Update 2. The update will also feature two new heroes, an array of hero skins, novel game modes, and more, marking a significant addition to the game’s content.
Season 1: The Sword of Ashfeld
The inaugural season, dubbed The Sword of Ashfeld, is set to weave a narrative around the Knights faction and a fabled sword named Valor’s Edge. This relic, a legacy from an ancient empire of knights predating the Cataclysm, now finds its place in battle wielded by the Unsung Knight. This character, initially introduced in For Honor’s 2016 CG story campaign trailer, symbolizes the protector of the vulnerable and will be featured as a new skin for the Warden class. The seasons to follow will continue this thematic focus, exploring stories tied to the weaponry of the Samurai, Vikings, and Outlanders.
Enhanced Gameplay and Events
With the launch of Year 8, players can look forward to the Last Hero Standing event, starting on March 14. This event introduces a fresh game mode and revitalizes the Canyon map with a survival theme, inspired by the Unsung Knight’s lore. The new game mode, also named Last Hero Standing, presents a 1v1v1 battle format where players compete to be the first to claim three round victories. This mode, accessible exclusively through solo queue matchmaking, will be available until April 4, accompanied by a free event pass offering unique rewards.
Battle Pass Innovations and Legacy Content
Year 8 also unveils the Legacy Pass, allowing players to access or continue previous Battle Passes in sequence. Starting with Season 1, the Year 4 Season 1 Battle Pass will be re-released, inclusive of a new tier featuring content for heroes not originally part of the pass. Players who had previously purchased this pass will be able to proceed without additional cost, enjoying a comprehensive 100-tier reward system, plus an exclusive tier 101 for Legacy Pass holders.
Accessibility and Player Milestones
Celebrating a milestone of 35 million players, For Honor introduces revamped editions of the game – Standard, Gold, and Ultimate – each offering a varying count of heroes and featuring new key art. Furthermore, starting March 14, all players will gain free access to the Arcade Mode, initially launched with the Marching Fire expansion.
Upcoming Hero Fests and Testing Grounds
The season will also host three Hero Fests for Warden, Centurion, and Peacekeeper, providing opportunities for free trials and purchase discounts on these heroes. Coinciding with these fests, the Testing Grounds will reopen on March 21 to explore new strategies against ganking, aiming to adjust damage values in such scenarios for a fairer combat experience.
For Honor, available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, continues to evolve, offering both veteran players and newcomers alike a deeper and more engaging combat experience. With Year 8, Forged in War, the game solidifies its commitment to delivering rich, story-driven content and gameplay enhancements.
