Orc Chop Games Releases Turn-Based RPG with Unique Features
Orc Chop Games, an indie studio known for its innovative approach to game development, has officially released Goblin Stone. The game debuts on Steam at a price of $22.50, thanks to a 10% launch discount. A future release on the Epic Games Store is also confirmed.
Goblin Stone presents a narrative-driven, turn-based RPG experience with roguelike elements. The game’s storyline revolves around goblins striving for survival in a world where they are on the brink of extinction. Players will form a team of goblins to navigate through various challenges, including battles against adventurers, elves, and dwarves. The game is characterized by its hand-drawn, storybook-inspired visuals that bring its world to life.
Strategic Gameplay and Unique Features
Vince McDonnell, responsible for Design & Studio Operations at Orc Chop Games, shared his enthusiasm for the game’s combat system and breeding feature. The combat system has been a focal point of development, aiming to offer players a unique tactical experience. Meanwhile, the breeding system provides a foundation for player strategy, enabling the combination of goblin traits to tailor-make a team suited to the player’s style.
The game integrates a heartwarming narrative with strategic gameplay elements. Its procedurally generated adventures, where permanent death is a real threat, add depth to the player’s experience. Additionally, players can construct and expand an underground lair for their goblins, encompassing everything from barracks to a war room. This lair serves as the base for the breeding system, allowing players to enhance their goblin team’s attributes and customize their abilities for forthcoming battles.
Goblin Stone is narrated by Scottish voice actor James Smillie, with music composed by Peter McConnell, who is renowned for his work on titles like Hearthstone, Psychonauts, and Monkey Island.
Players can expect over 40 hours of gameplay, exploring a vast array of combinations of goblin classes, weapons, and abilities. The game features more than 60 different enemy types, over 150 fully illustrated story images, and 25 challenging boss battles.
Available now on PC via Steam, Goblin Stone invites players to embark on an epic journey of survival and strategy, promising a rich blend of storytelling and gameplay innovation.
