4-on-4 mobile shooter sees explosive growth in first 6 months, receives Best of 2017 accolades on the App Store
Game Insight has today announced that an eSports PRO Play mode is currently being developed for their team-based mobile first-person shooter, Guns of Boom, in partnership with major eSports teams including NaVi, Virtus.pro and SK Gaming. The first of its kind for mobile, this mode will be designed with fair play and balance in mind. Player stats like health, armor and weapon upgrades will be normalized so the outcome of the match is determined purely by the grit and skill of its participants.
Game Insight has also revealed that Guns of Boom has amassed more than 20 million players in just its first six months, and is now seeing critical acclaim as one of the best games of 2017. Guns of Boom is currently featured in the App Store’s Best of 2017 as part of their Real-Time Competition games category. In the App Store story describing the selection, they highlight how Guns of Boom “mixes 3D touch and ultrasimple controls to create an intuitive way to battle with friends,” and declare it one of the games that “paved the way in the shooter genre.”
Guns of Boom has also received a Game of the Year nomination in the inaugural edition of the prestigious Mobile Games Awards.
“Like an enemy that’s at the wrong end of a player’s scope, we’ve been blown away by the reception to Guns of Boom,” said Anatoly Ropotov, Game Insight CEO. “The game has developed a huge and passionate community with over 150,000 videos uploaded to YouTube in its first six months, and it’s only getting bigger. YouTube creators also love the game’s Replay Hub, which drives players to their channels. Now we’re blasting our way into 2018 with plans for our biggest update yet: PRO Play Mode. We can’t wait to see all of you on the leaderboards soon!”
Guns of Boom has seen numerous updates in its first six months that have introduced new modes, new maps, and an industry-first augmented reality spectator mode powered by Apple’s ARKit. The latest update, released earlier this month, adds a new map for players that lets them compete in the subway station of the fictional Gobston Park.
Guns of Boom is available now as a free download on the App Store and Google Play.
