High-Tempo Tax-Paying Gate Defense Shooter ‘Marfusha’ Comes to Consoles in April

PLAYISM has announced that Marfusha, an innovative new high-tempo tax-paying gate defense shooter developed by indie studio hinyari9, will be released for consoles on April 6th, 2023. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The console versions of Marfusha will also feature a brand new animated opening set to its very own theme song, which depicts the world of Marfusha in one, breathtaking package.

In Marfusha, players take on the role of a young girl who guards a border gate and defends it against relentless oncoming enemies. As a proper citizen, Marfusha must not only defend the gate but also pay taxes. Players must scrounge up as much cash as possible from their heavily-taxed salary to purchase as many cards as possible to face increasingly powerful enemies.

The game takes place in a harsh pixelated dystopian world and features simple controls, making it easy to pick up and play. Players can experience multiple endings by recruiting different allies who help turn the tide of the game. The game also includes all kinds of cards, including weapons, characters, power-ups, chance events, and more.

Marfusha features eight unique characters to fight alongside the player and a score ranking in Challenge Mode, allowing players to compete with others from around the world. The console versions of Marfusha include a brand new animated opening set to its very own theme song, “I’ll be there,” which was created specifically for the game by singer-songwriter KOKIA. The animation was crafted by a team consisting of developers hinyari9, Chisey, and TOHRU MiTSUHASHi, who worked on the viral music videos for the game NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD.
