Islands of Nyne: Battle Royale Duos Reveal Alpha Dates Announced, November Developer Update

It has been a several months since the development team at Define Human Studios has publicly exhibited the Islands of Nyne: Battle Royale game at Dreamhack Atlanta and subsequent Twitch event, and there is a large array of features and updates to show off today.  The Islands of Nyne game provides a first person only, last man standing experience set within a sci-fi universe where players are brought to a giant biodome on a meteor in space to compete in an arena for the entertainment of the masses of alien civilizations. This Unreal Engine 4 based, highly competitive fast paced shooter provides a much haloed sci-fi experience to the genre, and is developing some unique features for the battle royale genre; a complex melee system, weapons systems from throughout time and space, teleportation, antigravity mechanics and other SciFi elements mixed in, custom game modes, solos duos and team based modes, historical specific weapons game modes, etc., as well as persistent stat tracking, viewer betting systems, and ingame loot and reward systems.

The developers have announced this major update in November includes the introduction of Duos game mode, a revamped and streamlined inventory management system, introduction of modular armor systems, rebalancing of forcefield shield systems, Vivox© VoIP with both proximity and team channels, swimming and bullet penetration of water, a spectator/shoutcaster Camera System, the CX4 Storm carbine as a new weapon, world origin rebasing and stable weapons optics in a first person UE4 shooter game, updated animations, updated muzzle flashes, suppressors, updated audio for firearms and bullets, audio occlusion and vertical audio soundscape improvements, new lighting using DFAO and a slew of optimizations.

What to expect on November 25th?
Since the project was first successfully crowdfunded in early 2016, the studio has grown to over 25 developers, and showed off the game in June and July on Twitch and at a booth at Dreamhack: Atlanta.  Today they return with five months of updates to show off as their prepare to spin up the Closed Alpha servers starting the weekend of November 25th.

What comes next?
Co-founder Jake Tolton has plans, “It’s been our goal from the beginning to provide a first person battle royale game for competitive tournaments, and the introduction of VOIP, duos, much higher minimal and average framerates, along with the spectator/shoutcaster camera system brings us very close to the point where we can start getting these tournament providers in game to host initial exhibitions.”  Expect a release on Steam Early Access in the first half of 2018.
