Legion Gaming Desktop Intel Core i5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Review

Summary
Lenovo - Legion Gaming Desktop - Intel Core i5 - 9400F - 8GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 is a solid entry-level gaming PC priced at $849. This machine will run any triple-A title at max settings on a 1080 display. I really like the design of this case! It looks like something that belongs to a stealth fighter. Hardware-wise it's priced correctly for this current meta of gaming PCs. Personally, I would like to see a bit more SSD memory and a $49.99 price reduction but considering you are backed by Legion I think it’s worth the little extra. If you are looking to get into gaming and possibly content creating down the road this is a great entry-level PC with options to upgrade.

A prebuilt PC is a great solution for all the gamers who do not want the hassle of dealing with the technical issues that could occur from building your own. Safety and security is knowing that if something happens to your PC Lenovo support will be right there to take care of it for you. This is something you do not get when you hand build your PCs at home. While hardware companies do offer a warranty it’s more of an “Oh sorry your part was defective, we will mail you a new one and you deal with it” type of vibe. Lenovo has a top-notch support program if not the best on the market today. This entry-level Legion gaming desktop has everything you need to play Triple-A style at a price tag of $849.99.

I really like the design of this case! It looks like something that belongs to a stealth fighter. This model is Phantom Black with a carbon style front panel. LED lighting includes a strip on the inside roof, an LED fan, and the logo on the front panel. It comes with an easy-to-use switch on the back that changes the LED color mode for those who do not want to tinker with settings. Also, a control mode switch that allows you to manage your fan speed with one button. 7 ports total including 2 USB 2.0 Type-A ports, 1 HDMI output, 1 DVI port, 1 Ethernet port, and 1 Display port output. Finding a place to put it should be easy as the case itself is relatively small at 18 inches tall and 17.9 inches deep. I am not really a huge fan of the wing that rises up on the backside of the case but it’s not a deal-breaker. It is a looker for sure!

Hardware-wise it’s priced correctly for this current meta of gaming PCs. If you shop around, you will notice anything around this price range on an Intel machine includes an i5. This i5-9400F however does boast 6 cores with a 2.9 GHz base speed and a 4.10 GHz turbo. These are solid numbers! All the rest of the hardware around it is just give a little, take a little when comparing to other PCs around this price range. This model has 1256 GBs of total storage with 256 SSD and 1000HDD. Just enough room for your favorite game on the SSD I personally would not recommend gaming on an HDD due to long load times. You can expand this if you want the motherboard includes 2 PCI-E x1 slots and 1 PCI-E x16 Slot. A solid graphics card is included the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 with 6 GBs of video memory. Top if off with 8 GBs of RAM expandable to 64 GBs. This machine will run any triple-A title at max settings on a 1080 resolution display. You will however need to turn down the graphics settings if you decide to live stream on platforms like Twitch or YouTube. Editing postproduction video content up to 1080 resolution should not impose any problems on your system load. You will incur long video rendering times over 4k resolution.

While a WIFI connection is not optimal to game on it is a genuinely nice feature to have and is included with this model. Bluetooth is also enabled allowing you to connect all your favorite wireless peripherals. Legion has great onboard software making it easy for beginners to maintain and control their PC with Lenovo Vantage. Backed by a 1-year parts and labor warranty which means they will not only replace the part but physically fix anything wrong with the PC. You can extend the warranty on most Legion products for up to 5 years. If you are looking to get into gaming and possibly content creating down the road this is a great entry-level PC with options to upgrade. I would personally like to see this priced at $799.99 but considering you are backed by Legion support I think it’s worth the little extra.
