HEXWORKS, a CI Games studio, is granting fans their closest look yet at the vast and treacherous worlds of its upcoming, dark-fantasy action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen, with a spectacular new gameplay showcase video. Built in Unreal Engine 5, the highly anticipated title launches on Friday, October 13th, and is available for pre-order now on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The new gameplay video focuses on one of the title’s most anticipated mechanics: the dual worlds featured in Lords of the Fallen. The video provides all-new details and showcases never-before-seen gameplay that highlights how these two expansive environments function within the game. Players will be required to explore both Axiom, the realm of the living, and Umbral, the realm of the dead, as they embark on their journey through the savage lands of Mournstead.
The dual worlds of Lords of the Fallen coexist like two sides of the same coin, each offering its own unique pathways, enemies, characters, and treasures. Players will have the freedom to choose which realm they venture into, but they will regularly need to switch between the two in order to progress. This mechanic adds a refreshing twist to the action-RPG genre, introducing new levels of immersion, environmental storytelling, and tactical impact in combat.
The gameplay video also reveals new details about three of the game’s brutal bosses, as well as shedding light on an integral gameplay ability known as the soul flay. This ability allows players to interact with the soul of their enemy and manipulate elements of the environment for puzzle-based exploration.
Saul Gascon, HEXWORKS’ Head of Studio, expressed his excitement about the new gameplay mechanics, stating, “By enabling players to use the Umbral Lamp and switch between two distinct parallel worlds at will, we have been able to introduce entirely new levels of immersion to the action-RPG genre. We believe that this addition brings a refreshing, albeit often eerie, twist to its well-established mechanics, such as a revitalized death run, double-layered environmental storytelling, and, of course, a tactical impact in combat. We are eagerly anticipating how players will face this all-new challenge when it arrives this October!”
Players can look forward to experiencing the dark and treacherous worlds of Lords of the Fallen on Friday, October 13th, when the game launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Lords of the Fallen will be available in different editions, catering to the preferences of various gamers. The Standard Edition includes the base game, while the Deluxe Edition (available in both physical and digital formats) offers additional content, such as the Dark Crusader Starting Class, a 100-page digital artbook, a digital soundtrack composed by Cris Velasco and Knut Avenstroup Haugen, and a 3D model viewer to examine in-game character models in high-resolution detail.
For dedicated fans and collectors, the Collector’s Edition (available in physical format only) provides even more exclusive items, including a 19cm Dark Crusader Figurine, a metal display case with LED mood lighting, a Collector’s SteelBook, a physical artbook, double-sided posters, and art cards. The Dark Crusader Starting Class and other digital items are also included in the Collector’s Edition.
