Hold Your Horses, Commanders!
Fulqrum Publishing and Best Way have officially delayed the launch of the next major installment in their strategy powerhouse, Men of War II, to 2024. This decision aims to offer fans a bug-free gaming experience that the title truly deserves.
Deep Dive: Why the Delay?
The development team took a hard look at feedback from public playtests conducted between March and August 2023 and their internal testing data. While the game is already content and feature complete, the dev team felt it wasn’t up to snuff, lacking that technical polish they aim for. The title boasts 3 narrative and 2 historical campaigns, Conquest and Raid dynamic campaigns, 15 PvP and 8 PvE multiplayer modes with over 20 maps, and more. The complexity and scale of Men of War II make squashing every last bug a monumental task, particularly amid the ongoing challenges in Ukraine, the home base for Best Way.
Community Comes First
Maxim Kamensky, the Producer of Men of War II at Best Way, emphasized the role of the community in this process. According to Kamensky, the team received an avalanche of constructive feedback and suggestions from the game’s community. The tight original schedule made it impossible to implement these changes while also maintaining a bug-free environment for the game.
Setting the Bar High
CEO of Fulqrum Games, Nikolay Baryshnikov, reminded gamers that Men of War is a defining title in the WWII Strategy genre. Baryshnikov believes that the delay, while unfortunate, is a necessary step to meet player expectations and maintain the franchise’s reputation for quality.
Bottom Line
In gaming, patience can often yield great rewards. While fans will have to wait a bit longer for Men of War II, it’s clear that the teams at Fulqrum Publishing and Best Way are committed to delivering a polished and refined game that will live up to the hype.
