What’s happening? With the full release of the Update Aquatic around the corner, Minecraft set out to not only populate oceans within the game full of life, but to also help positively impact our real-life oceans! How? Enter Minecraft Coral Crafters, in which we partnered with the Minecraft community and content creators to turn three in-game designs into real-world underwater BioRock sculptures to promote coral regrowth.
Over the past couple of months, we’ve documented this activation from start to finish, including our collaborations with content creators and students to design the sculptures, footage of the sculptures being built, and the sinking of the sculptures off the coast of Cozumel. We’re proud to share a ~deep dive~ video recapping what inspired this project and why it takes everyone’s help to make waves of positive impact for our oceans.
