Riot Games, the developer of the popular online multiplayer game League of Legends, has unveiled its latest champion, Naafiri the Hound of a Hundred Bites.
Background and Lore
Naafiri is an ancient Darkin possessing immense power. She was destined to lead her kin, but her aspirations were cut short when she was imprisoned within a blade and entombed in a crypt deep beneath the Shuriman sands. Centuries later, Naafiri was freed and became bound to a new host, or rather, hosts—the Dune Hounds.
Initially filled with anger at her new existence, Naafiri soon discovered the value of the pack’s collective consciousness. Unlike her fellow Darkin who fought as individuals and faced defeat, Naafiri’s strength lies in the unity, loyalty, and shared power of her pack. With a desire to unite her fellow Darkin, she will unleash the full might of her pack upon anyone who dares to oppose her.
Abilities
Passive – We Are More
Naafiri generates a Packmate after a certain amount of time, which will attack enemies she targets, dealing physical damage. The damage inflicted by Packmates is increased after Naafiri uses an ability. Hitting champions with abilities or killing enemies reduces the cooldown of this ability.
Q – Darkin Dagger
Naafiri throws blades tainted by the Darkin, causing physical damage and applying a bleed effect to enemies for a few seconds. This ability can be recast. If the target is already affected by a bleed effect, Naafiri deals the remaining bleed damage along with bonus physical damage and missing health physical damage. If the target is a champion, Naafiri also restores some health. Packmates will leap at the first target hit, prioritizing champions and attacking them for a short duration.
W – Hounds’ Pursuit
After a brief delay, Naafiri dashes towards an enemy, dealing physical damage and briefly slowing her target or the first champion she collides with. The range of this ability increases with each rank of her ultimate ability. Packmates become untargetable and dash alongside Naafiri, dealing additional damage based on the number of Packmates.
E – Eviscerate
Naafiri surges forward, dashing through enemies and dealing physical damage to them. She then explodes outward, causing additional physical damage in an area. Packmates are recalled to Naafiri and are healed to full health.
R – The Call of the Pack
Naafiri prepares to hunt, empowering her Packmates and summoning additional ones for a short duration. She also gains a burst of out-of-combat movement speed, enhanced vision, and a shield upon hitting an enemy champion for the first time. If Naafiri eliminates an enemy champion, all ultimate effects are refreshed.
