Thunderful and The Station, the internal development studio, have revealed an exciting new trailer for SteamWorld Build, the upcoming installment in the popular SteamWorld series. The game is set to release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in 2023. Fans eager to experience the game firsthand can look forward to a SteamWorld Build demo during the Steam Next Fest, which will be available from June 19th to June 26th.

True to the SteamWorld tradition, SteamWorld Build puts a unique twist on a well-known genre. It offers players a captivating multi-level city-building experience where they construct a prosperous town on the surface while dealing with underground mining and facing menacing monsters.

In SteamWorld Build, players assume the role of an architect responsible for a SteamWorld mining town. Their tasks include breaking ground, building houses for the steambot citizens, ensuring their sustenance, and providing entertainment. However, the real adventure lies beneath the town, as an abandoned mine is rumored to hold ancient technology that could potentially save the inhabitants from imminent doom. To progress, players must utilize the abundant resources above ground and the valuable ores hidden below, expanding their town and attracting new residents to join the mission of unearthing riches and ultimately escaping the planet’s impending catastrophe.

Developed simultaneously for PC and consoles, SteamWorld Build offers a seamless experience across different platforms. The game’s design, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) have been carefully crafted to ensure optimal gameplay with both controllers and mouse and keyboard setups. With a user-friendly interface and mechanics, SteamWorld Build welcomes both experienced city builder players and newcomers to the genre. Additionally, the game features three difficulty levels, allowing players to choose their preferred level of challenge.

Brjánn Sigurgeirsson, the SteamWorld Universe and Franchise Director, expressed his delight at the positive response SteamWorld Build has received thus far, stating, “The response to SteamWorld Build from our fans and critics has been fantastic so far.” Sigurgeirsson also mentioned that more details about the game will be shared through the community-focused SteamWorld Telegraph show, which has recently resumed.

Adam Vassee, the producer at The Station, also expressed his excitement about the overwhelming support for SteamWorld Build, emphasizing the team’s commitment to delivering a game that lives up to the high standards set by the award-winning franchise. Vassee added, “The response so far suggests we’ve really hit on something with our Anno meets Dungeon Keeper style gameplay, but I can assure you we will keep working hard to make the best SteamWorld game possible!”

SteamWorld Build is scheduled to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2023. With its captivating gameplay, innovative twist on the city-building genre, and simultaneous development for multiple platforms, SteamWorld Build promises to be a highly anticipated addition to the SteamWorld series.
