A Fresh Look and Tactical Expansions for the Squad Community
In a move to enhance its community engagement and gameplay experience, Offworld has rolled out a significant update for Squad, its widely recognized military FPS that pits two teams of 50 players against each other. Alongside the game update, the company also unveiled a redesigned website dedicated to the game, aiming to serve as a comprehensive resource hub for players, content creators, and media.
New Vehicles for Strategic Dominance
Update 7.2 introduces two novel vehicles to the Squad arsenal: the M1128 mobile gun system and the Quad Bike. The M1128, a robust and flexible vehicle, is designed to bolster the offensive capabilities of wheeled-vehicle units and infantry, aligning with the operational strategies of the USA Faction’s 2nd Cavalry Stryker Brigade Motorized Unit. On the other hand, the Quad Bike offers unparalleled agility on the battlefield, making it an essential asset for the US Army and USMC Light Infantry units in executing rapid and precise maneuvers.
Empowering Players with Map and Faction Voting
A standout feature of the 7.2 update is the introduction of a map and faction voting system, aiming to enrich the combat environment and offer players more control over their gameplay experience. This new system enables players to vote on the next combat layer and faction setup at the end of each round, ensuring the game evolves based on the collective preference of its player base. The selected gameplay layer is activated once the vote concludes, either through a timeout or once all votes are cast.
Gameplay Enhancements and Quality-of-Life Improvements
Beyond the strategic additions of new vehicles and the voting system, Update 7.2 also incorporates manual bolting for bolt-action rifles, along with several quality-of-life enhancements for weapons and scopes. These improvements are complemented by a series of bug fixes aimed at streamlining the gaming experience.
