Maze Theory, an immersive entertainment studio, has announced a series of free content updates for their action-adventure VR game, Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom. The content roadmap for 2023 includes new missions, environments, challenges, customization options, and more. This move follows the game’s successful launch on Meta Quest 2 and PICO 4 on March 9th, 2023, and aims to address community feedback and enhance the gameplay experience for Peaky Blinders fans.
Phase 1 of the roadmap, spanning from April to August 2023, will feature new combat missions, challenges, weapons, an additional environment, and player customization options. Regular quality-of-life updates and improvements will also be provided. April’s updates include new shooting galleries with moving targets to sharpen players’ combat skills and the option to replay favorite campaign chapters.
Maze Theory will release more information on the exact timing and specifics of each content update in the future. Tim Jones, Game Director at Maze Theory, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming content and noted that they are continuously monitoring player feedback. He added that the roadmap is “just the beginning,” with details for Phase 2 to be revealed later in the year.
Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom is an original story inspired by the BAFTA-winning drama, developed in collaboration with the show’s producer Caryn Mandabach Productions and series creator Steven Knight. The game was created in partnership with Banijay Brands, the commercial arm of content powerhouse Banijay.
The VR game already offers players an immersive world set in 1920s Birmingham and London, with iconic locations from the show, such as The Garrison pub, Charlie’s Yard, and Shelbys’ Betting Shop. Players interact with believable characters, including Tommy Shelby (voiced by Cillian Murphy) and Arthur Shelby (voiced by Paul Anderson), while engaging in intense action and an epic crime drama.
