Rainbow High: Runway Rush, the first console game based on the No. 1 fashion doll Rainbow High, is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC this fall. Developed and published by Outright Games in partnership with MGA Entertainment, Rainbow High: Runway Rush is a puzzle adventure game that allows fans to step into the colorful, immersive school environment and have fun with their favorite characters.
Players can play as one of the six original Rainbow High characters, including Ruby, Poppy, Sunny, Jade, Skyler, or Violet, and utilize their different creative skills, such as Sunny’s illustrations and Skyler’s fashion design, to complete puzzles and help their classmates. They must work together to show their artistic flair and create a standout idea. The team with the best idea will be awarded a chance to plan a major project for the Creative Spring Challenge.
Rainbow High: Runway Rush features many beloved locations from the series and gives players the opportunity to both play as and meet their favorite Rainbow High characters. For example, fans can play as Sunny and find everything she needs for the day in her bedroom, as Ruby to prepare croissants in the Rainbow Union, or as Skyler to design and make an outfit. Additionally, players can take on a series of quests, play mini-games, and find collectibles to level up their characters with unlockable outfits.
The puzzle genre was a natural fit for Rainbow High: Runway Rush, as the franchise is centered so much on creativity. Carla Bolaños Blanco from Xaloc Studios said, “To help younger players navigate and learn the game, we’ve incorporated a “Hint Scan” feature that helps identify at one sight every interactive element of the puzzles making navigation easier for younger players.”
Rainbow High is an inclusive line of fashion dolls and accessories that includes characters representing all the colors of the rainbow. The first line of dolls was released in 2020 by MGA and was hugely successful on its launch, including being named No. 1 New Toy at the 2020 Toy of the Year Awards in the U.S. The animated series aired the same year on YouTube and became available on Netflix in March 2021, accumulating more than one billion minutes watched on all platforms.
