A new era is about to begin thanks to Assetto Corsa Competizione, the official videogame of the Blancpain GT Series, developed by KUNOS Simulazioni and published by global videogame company 505 Games.
This April in Monza, Italy in conjunction with the first round of the 2019 Blancpain GT Series championship by SRO Motorsports Group, a new e-sports initiative will kick off which provides an opportunity for three top sim racers to be accepted into the Lamborghini Squadra Corse for a racing experience, where those lucky sim racers will be evaluated for driving, physical and mental skills and will live a racing experience with the team.
GT3 racing fans from all over the world will be served with an official virtual championship, organized by SRO Motorsports Group and Kunos Simulazioni with the key support of Pirelli, worldwide leader for road and track tires, and AK Informatica, the leading Italian gaming hardware and events company.
RaceDepartment will provide live streams coverage, video showcases, interviews, articles and official forum support throughout the event.
The SRO E-Sport GT Series virtual season will feature four rounds taking place at some of the finest and most historic circuits in the world including:
- Monza – Italy
- Paul-Ricard – France
- Spa-Francorchamps – Belgium
- Nurburgring GP – Germany
- Grand Finale in Barcelona – Spain
The championship will include on-site and on-line contenders and features PRO e-sport invitational drivers that will race in a dedicated Sim Racing Arena featuring 12 high-end simulators and will be challenged by online qualifiers (SILVER Class) and on-site drivers selected amongst the AM Class.
All Assetto Corsa Competizione players are eligible to join the competition by entering on the official event website www.sro-esport.com where the championship regulation will be posted and updated together with media material, highlights and exclusive insights. Players looking to participate can enter in the 12 SILVER class on www.sro-esport.com. A paddock access ticket will be needed in order to participate.
The competition will feature three classes:
- 12 PRO – Invitational pro e-sport drivers and celebrities
- 12 SILVER – ACC drivers participating to an online leaderboard. They will need to register as SILVER drivers on www.sro-esport.com and they will score their Hotstint attempt by playing the SRO E-Sport GT Series Special Event inside the game, in the Special Events section.
- 12 AMATEUR – Drivers selected on-site during the first days of the race event.
The competition will feature three classes: 12 PRO (Invitational pro e-sport drivers and celebrities), 12 SILVER (Assetto Corsa Competizione drivers participating in an online hot lap challenge) and 12 AMATEUR (drivers selected on-site during the first days of the race event). Each of the three classes will have the same chance to win the round final in their respective classes (PRO, SILVER, AM). The top four drivers in each class final will join the round final round and winners will be celebrated on the tracks podium during the Blancpain GT Series.
Special prizes will be up for grabs for each of the individual round winners, more details of which will be revealed at a later date.
