Rumor — Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice To Not Have DLC?

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is apparently not going to get any DLC, according to a new rumor that has surfaced online. This news comes shortly after From Software announced their brand new “IP Elden Ring” at E3 2019.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was another brand new IP by From Software that launched in mid-March of this year, and it quickly became the fastest selling game by developer From Software. When the last sales update was given for Sekiro, it had sold more than two million copies — which is pretty respectable for a new IP.

At this year’s E3, From Software has announced “Elden Ring” … a brand new IP that is being worked on by Hidetaka Miyazaki. It will be the largest From Software game to-date, and they are also collaborating with George R.R. Martin to shape the mythology and lore of this brand new world.

From Software has confirmed that the official artwork for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be out on August 2nd, which is a rather quick turnaround for a game developed by them. Normally, when they do release such artwork, it is after any post-launch DLC that the company puts out for the game. In the case of Sekiro, they are releasing it way too soon despite there being no DLC announced or released so far for the game.

A user over at ResetERA, named “taepoppuri” (who has been verified by an admin there and seemed to have an actual genuine source) has shared information that From Software is not going to make any more DLC for Sekiro because they are busy with Elden Ring — which is their biggest project so far. He was also the only person to leak the most accurate details on the Elden Ring E3 2019 trailer. If (and that’s a big IF) it turns out to be true, it will be a little disappointing. Sekiro has grown to become a hit with millions of people and not having anything to release as post-content in this day and age is seen as odd.

Now, having decided to tag this story as rumor even though the source is genuine, there is some degree of credibility to it due to the launch of the official artwork on August 2 … but still take it with a bit of caution. From Software’s major focus should be on Elden Ring, no doubt, which they only started to work on after finishing any Dark Souls 3 DLC.

Though, for gamers who enjoy Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, you will still hope that at least one DLC pack will release to ease their minds. If not though, it would be fine in the end. There is always a possibility that a sequel could happen down the line, and fans are still clamoring for a Bloodborne sequel. There has been nothing on that front as of late, but as they say, one must never lose hope! So let’s all hope together that a DLC pack or at least a sequel will happen with Sekiro.
