Saying Goodbye to One of the Most Successful Series in the History of Gaming

After almost thirty years, the FIFA video game series is heading towards the end of its life cycle. One of the most important video games is about to be rebranded and re-introduced to the world as EA Sports FC. The last instalment of a game that was localised in 18 different languages, will give players one last chance to enjoy everything that the collaboration between EA Sports and FIFA brought to e-sports.

EA Sports’ goal is to maintain a “federation-free” e-football product in the following years, but after decades of having had a successful collaboration with FIFA, it seems a little bit as if the company’s board is taking a leap of faith towards a more independent commercial future. In a way, it is a little bit like letting Lady Luck guide you while you play your favourite casino games. Considering the importance and the influence of EA in the gaming world, it feels like the odds for a better future are in the company’s favour.

FIFA 23 is going to be the last instalment in the series and a lot of what players have seen up to now will stay the same, but the game will come with a few changes. EA Sports is planning to launch the game with some added features, to make post-release updates regularly and to have test periods, during which it will try functionalities that will eventually turn the current look and feel to that of EA Sports FC, which will launch in a year from now. Players should not expect drastic changes, as the partnership with FIFA is still ongoing, but software-wise, EA will try to promote its future product as best as it can.

A Little Bit Less Realism and a Lot More e-Sport Action

Every FIFA game has tried to simulate real football in the best possible way, but at the end of the day, FIFA titles are still video games. Those who have played the demo version of FIFA 23 have noticed a few interesting functionalities. The biggest changes seem to be related to shooting, as EA Sports has decided to implement a type of “limit break” for shooting, which is a functionality one normally sees in role-playing games. Apart from that, it feels like EA has improved the motion functionalities of players in order to make movements a little bit more realistic. The only problem is that if a player wants to get the best possible player movements, then they will need to pick top level teams, which consist of elite players like Kylian Mbappé.

Is It Worth Buying FIFA 23?

The final instalment in the FIFA video gaming series is more or less an improved version of the game players have loved up to now. In all honesty, the differences between the 2022 and the 2023 versions are not that big, but considering that FIFA 23 is the last game of the series, people will consider buying it just so that they have a copy of the final instalment in their gaming libraries.
