Nintendo drops a 15-minute bombshell showcasing Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the first 2D side-scrolling Mario game in a decade. Set to launch on October 20, the game features new power-ups, Wonder effects, and a Flower Kingdom ready to explore. In a build-up to this epic release, Nintendo also announces a Mario Red Edition of the Nintendo Switch OLED model, hitting shelves on October 6 for $349.99.

Flower Kingdom Awaits Mario and Crew

In the upcoming title, Mario and friends receive an invite from the benevolent Prince Florian to visit the Flower Kingdom. But hold the fireworks—Bowser has other plans. Thanks to a mysterious Wonder Flower, the Koopa King merges with the prince’s castle, unleashing chaos. Mario and team gear up to save the Flower Kingdom, which boasts six unique worlds surrounding the Petal Isles.

The Wonders of Wonder Effects

Wonder Flowers are the newest in-game items introducing surprising in-course effects. Touch one and boom! Moving pipes, tilted terrains, and even character transformations into Goombas or Spike-Balls can occur. Expect the unexpected when navigating through these magical blooms.

All-Star Roster and Fresh Power-Ups

Mario is not alone on this journey. Gamers can opt to play as Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Blue Toad, Yellow Toad, or even Toadette. New power-ups make a grand debut, including Elephant Fruit, Bubble Form, and Drill Form, each offering unique gameplay mechanics to tackle foes and obstacles.

Enemies and Badges: Keep the Gameplay Lit

New antagonists like Hoppycats, Melon Piranha Plants, and Maw-Maws make your traverse through the Flower Kingdom a bit more challenging. To level up the gameplay, badges with special abilities can be earned. Whether it’s enhancing wall-jumping with the Wall-Climb Jump badge or going stealth mode with the Invisibility badge, there’s something for every gamer.

Multiplayer Magic, Online and Local

Up to four players can experience the game locally on the same Nintendo Switch. Online rooms for friendly races and real-time global player interaction are available, enhancing the gaming experience. Standees can also be placed in-game to help online players revive ghosts, adding a social twist to the gameplay.

Pricing and Nintendo Switch Vouchers

The game is priced at $59.99 and is available for pre-order. Nintendo Switch Online members can get their hands on game vouchers, allowing them to snag digital copies of premium titles like Super Mario Bros. Wonder for a discounted rate.

It’s clear that Super Mario Bros. Wonder aims to redefine 2D Mario gaming, bringing both nostalgia and fresh twists to the Nintendo Switch. Mark those calendars, G-LYFE Nation, because October is about to get wonder-ful!
