2017 is the year that the Final Fantasy franchise turns 30! Time sure flies and today marks the day that we officially start the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary celebrations!
The Final Fantasy series wouldn’t be where it is today if it wasn’t for our incredible fans, so thank you for all of your support over the years. We’d love to hear about your memories and personal stories with the FF series so be sure to share them in the comments, on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #FF30th.
So onto some new stuff and announcements!
Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age
It’s time to return to the world of Ivalice as FFXII The Zodiac Age will be released on 11th July 2017 in Europe and North America on PS4!
FFXII The Zodiac Age not only remasters the visuals and audio for PS4 but you’ll also be able to play FFXII with the Zodiac Job system for the first time in the West. Famed character designer and artist Akihiko Yoshida also created a new piece of key art featuring the main cast which you can see below:
Final Fantasy VII Remake
As part of the opening ceremony for the #FF30th Anniversary celebrations, we also unveiled this new key art for Final Fantasy VII Remake featuring Cloud and his iconic Buster Sword set to the background of Midgar, base of the Shinra Electric Power Company.
Final Fantasy XV
We’ve got a sneak peek at some of the upcoming DLC for FFXV!
First up is the Booster Pack. There will be two versions similar to the Holiday Pack that was released at the end of last year – the Booster Pack (free version) and Booster Pack+. Both versions will be released on 21st February 2017. The Booster Pack content will include powerful items such as the invincible outfit, “Magitek Exosuit” that give players an advantage during battles, which you can see below:
The other bit of DLC news is for FFXV: Episode Gladiolus which will be released on 28th March 2017! This is the first exciting original character DLC episode and gives you the chance to play FFXV from the perspective of Gladio. As Gladio, you’ll team up with Cor and Gilgamesh, a franchise favourite character will also be making an appearance in the episode.
Episode Gladiolus comes with the season pass (and Digital Premium Edition of FFXV) but it will also be available separately via the Xbox Marketplace and PlayStation Store and here’s a little teaser:
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and Mobius Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy Brave Exvius has achieved over 20 million downloads worldwide and Mobius Final Fantasy has achieved over 10 million downloads worldwide.
Mobius Final Fantasy is also headed to Steam next month on 6th February and to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Final Fantasy VII (which is also this year!), various in-game bonuses and a special Final Fantasy VII Remake collaboration event will begin on 7th February for a limited time.
As part of the 30th anniversary celebrations in the Square Enix Europe office, we celebrated with you and fellow fans by streaming a variety of FF games over on the Square Enix Twitch channel which you can watch by clicking here.
So there you have it, we have officially started our celebrations for the #FF30th Anniversary! Thank you once again for sticking with the FF franchise for all this time. The FF series means a huge amount to so many people so here’s to 30 more years (and hopefully more)!
