VRTGO Labs Dev Day 2017

The Organisers of the sell-out event VRTGO are bringing back their popular Developer Day for the second year. The event will be at the amazing Northern Design Centre in Gateshead UK on 23rd March 2017.

Last year saw over 100 technologists and developers gather together to hear from speakers and learn more about developing for VR.

Khronos Group will be hosting part of this developer day and supporting the networking. These guys are initiating the development of a standard to enable VR applications to easily connect to VR hardware. The attendees will get a chance to ask these leading technologists questions as well as give their input into these important standards.

Dan Gilmore, Head of Atomhawk’s UI/UX team, is speaking about ‘Designing VR UI’. Dan has worked on a number of key VR titles, including the UI for Eve: Valkyrie. His talk will look into the considerations and principles that govern good VRUI design, with practical examples drawn from a wide range of sources.

Tom Painter, Director of Bigman, is speaking about ‘Creating Mixed Reality Video’. Tom, who formally worked for Sony and also in the Film industry on Harry Potter, has now created his own CGI studio, Bigman. Tom will be talking about how he has succeeded in creating one of the UK’s first mixed reality video rigs, “you need the right blend of unity know-how, a creative eye, a whole heap of videography gear, compositing skills, a spare 6 months, patience and a little bit of luck! “. If you’re at all interested in this topic, It is definitely worth hearing him speak.
