WWE 2K20 1.06 Update — 5 New & Returning Features

Last Thursday, WWE 2K20 released the latest update to the world, and while it fixed several issues for every game mode and had the game ready for the new WWE 2K20 Originals DLC Pack: Wasteland Wanderers the following day, it got me thinking … has this update added anything to the game? I know it’s asking a lot of the team behind the game since they are fixing it, but besides the DLC packs, it honestly didn’t seem much has happened with the updates. Unless you know where to look — and I do. So, let’s look at five things that patch update version 1.06 has added to WWE 2K20.

1) Added the ability to change the Hell in a Cell type

Since WWE 2019 came out last year, you’ve been able to change what kind of Elimination Chamber you want to use and Steel Cage for those matches. Since the games are usually behind what WWE TV does, an option to do this for Hell in a Cell wasn’t included in that game nor WWE 2K20 at launch. When selecting Hell in a Cell as your match type (when you go to customize your match), you can change the Cell to what you want to use from the classic look to the current red structure or (if you have the Wasteland Wanderer DLC) to a rusty version called Wasteland.

2) Added the ability to “random” pick a Wrestler

Why this was never a part of the game’s launch, I will never understand … but for it to be added now is a great move on Visual Concepts and 2K’s part, and it’s such a good mechanic to have in any sport related game when you are trying to challenge yourself. When selecting a character in any match type, press square on PS4 or X on Xbox One to randomly choose the WWE superstar — aka wrestler to play as.

3) Added the ability to “favorite” moves in Create-A-Moveset

This is yet another feature that wasn’t part of the game at launch and is very useful when you are planning to create a character of your own down the road. When you are editing a wrestler’s moveset over in “create-moveset,” you can “favorite” a move by pressing the option button on PS4 or the menu button on Xbox one.

4) Added Create-A-Championship

When WWE 2K20 was preparing to launch, 2K and Visual Concepts announced that a beloved feature wouldn’t be in the game initially but would arrive at a later date — and that is “Create-A-Championship.” After a two-month wait, the mode is finally here and can be accessed from “Creations” right underneath “Entrance.” This mode gives you the ability to create any championship in wrestling history (be it past or present) and is beloved throughout the WWE 2K community. Be sure to try it out!

5) Added a visual upgrade to flaming tables

This one was a bit of a surprise that came out of left field that no one expected … not even myself. However, Visual Concepts decided to upgrade the fire for flaming tables in-game. What was once a low-end, last gen particle effect is now a raging inferno when you’re playing an “Extreme Rules” match — making the fire live up to the match type’s name.

These are just a few of the additions and improvements added to WWE 2K20 and there are probably others added as well, but I haven’t checked. Have I missed something? What did you find? Let me know in the comments below.
