Pearl Abyss, the Korean powerhouse behind the successful MMORPG Black Desert, has officially announced reaching significant milestones. Since its launch in 2014, Black Desert has amassed over 55 million registered users worldwide and has generated more than €2 billion in lifetime revenue. These achievements come alongside the celebration of Black Desert Online’s eight-year anniversary on PC, marking a pivotal moment in the game’s history.
Anniversary Events and New Class Introduction
March brings a wave of celebrations for Black Desert, commemorating not just the PC version’s eight-year anniversary but also five years on console and four years of cross-platform play between Xbox and PlayStation. Highlighting these celebrations, Pearl Abyss is set to introduce a new class, the ‘Scholar’, to console versions on Wednesday, March 6. This addition underlines the developer’s ongoing commitment to enriching the player experience.
2023: A Year of Accolades and Expansion
The past year saw Pearl Abyss receiving the 2023 Dari Award for Business of the Year, alongside acclaim for its Land of the Morning Light expansion. The game also hosted over six community events globally, emphasizing the strong, active community surrounding Black Desert.
Focus on Accessibility and Engagement
Looking ahead to 2024, Pearl Abyss aims to streamline Black Desert, making it more accessible and engaging for players at all levels. Jaehee Kim, the Executive Producer of Black Desert, emphasized the dedication to enhancing the game, stating, “This eight-year anniversary signals our progress towards that goal, and we’ll continue to achieve even more.”
A Month of Celebrations and Discounts
Pearl Abyss has planned a plethora of events to engage its community across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. These include log-in rewards, community challenges, and artistic contests, alongside significant sales discounts. Black Desert Online will be available at 90% off its retail price on the BDO website and Steam, with DLC packs offered at half price.
