DrLupo to host second 24-hour livestream for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, aims to break record with $2.7 million fundraising goal

Professional gaming streamer Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo announces his second annual 24-hour livestream to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® on December 21 at noon CT/1p.m.ET. This year, DrLupo aims to beat his personal fundraising record by surpassing $2.7 million raised this year for the lifesaving mission of St. Jude: Finding cures. Saving children.®

In order to meet his 2019 goal, DrLupo will engage his fans to give back by offering incentives during the livestream, which will be hosted on Twitch. Supporters can also purchase DrLupo’s Build Against Cancer tshirt, in collaboration with Design by Humans, to help him reach his goal.

DrLupo is one of the most popular Twitch streamers with over 3.5 million followers on the platform and garnering more than 79 million views on Twitch since he started in 2012. He continues to leverage his popularity for good, raising more than $1.3 million for charity partners in 2018 alone, including more than $600,000 for St. Jude during his 24 hour livestream.

Earlier this year, DrLupo and MrsDrLupo visited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital where they experienced the mission firsthand, played games with St. Jude patient families and answered a series of fun questions on St. Jude Inspire. He also engaged his fans to give back during the Gaming Community Expo, formerly GuardianCon — a week-long, 24-hour-a-day gaming event that benefits St. Jude.

The 24-hour livestream is supported by DrLupo’s management company, Loaded. The company is working closely with DrLupo and partners to secure sponsors and product to maximize donations for St. Jude. Loaded also plans to make a donation to St. Jude during this year’s livestream.

Additional support for the December 21 livestream includes esports organization ReKTGlobal, which signed DrLupo this past summer, and Twitch.

Because of generous supporters like DrLupo, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. It will cost more than $1 billion to operate St. Jude this year, and the majority of that must come from generous donors.
