CCP Games is commemorating EVE Online’s 20th anniversary on Saturday, May 6th, with the announcement of the upcoming major content expansion, EVE Online: Viridian. Set to launch in June 2023, Viridian is the first of two significant expansions planned for the year and will be free for all players. The expansion aims to empower players with new tools, personalization options, and social-driven content to showcase their corporation’s prowess.
EVE Online’s Creative Director, Bergur Finnbogason, stated that Viridian would allow players to shape and color New Eden more effectively. The expansion builds upon the foundation set by the previous Uprising expansion, providing corporation leaders with more resources and methods to help their group thrive.
EVE Online: Viridian will offer player-run corporations more ways to strengthen and expand their numbers, along with new personalization options and an enhanced toolset. Corporation leaders can use these features to create meaningful content, manage and train new recruits efficiently, and lead their corporation to collective success.
In addition to the upcoming expansion, Capsuleers can enjoy a variety of in-game and out-of-game activities in May, including Capsuleer Day celebrations and a cosmic fireworks extravaganza at Jita 4-4. Players can also seize the opportunity to have their name inscribed on the updated and expanded Worlds Within A World monument in Reykjavík, Iceland. To qualify, players must have an active Omega account on May 6th, 2023.
CCP Games also unveiled the completed Fabric of New Eden mosaic, a celebratory digital artwork featuring over 80,000 EVE players.
EVE Online’s CEO, Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, expressed gratitude for the game’s devoted players and invited everyone to participate in live events and in-game activities throughout the summer to celebrate the 20-year milestone.
On Saturday, May 6th, players can tune in to EVE Online’s celebratory CCP TV stream on Twitch (17:00-19:00 UTC) for developer interviews, prize giveaways, and a live in-game fireworks display at Jita 4-4.
