Final Fantasy XIV Online Patch 6.4 Trailer Unveils ‘The Dark Throne’ Content and May 23 Release Date

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV Online’s highly anticipated Patch 6.4, titled “The Dark Throne,” is set to release on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023. During a recent Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida introduced a new trailer that showcased the exciting content awaiting players in this upcoming patch.

Among the key features of Patch 6.4 are the addition of new main scenario quests, a thrilling raid dungeon, a challenging new trial, and various other updates that will enhance the gameplay experience. The trailer provided a glimpse into the epic continuation of the Warrior of Light’s story, promising a captivating narrative that will keep players engaged.

One of the highlights of Patch 6.4 is the final installment of the Pandæmonium raid series, Pandæmonium: Anabaseios. This raid dungeon will test players’ skills and teamwork as they confront formidable challenges within its depths. Additionally, players can look forward to facing Golbez in The Voidcast Dais, a new trial available in both Normal and Extreme difficulties.

Patch 6.4 also introduces the Unreal Trial feature, where players can engage in a fierce battle against the powerful Zurvan in Containment Bay Z1T9. The Unreal Trials provide a fresh and challenging experience for players seeking greater rewards and the chance to test their combat prowess.

The update brings significant enhancements to various aspects of the game, including the addition of new side story quests that continue Tataru’s Grand Endeavour. Furthermore, the Duty Support System will be expanded to include several Stormblood main scenario dungeons, allowing players to complete them solo or with a party of NPC allies.

Fans of PvP content will be delighted to know that Patch 6.4 brings forth the start of PvP Series 4 with Crystalline Conflict, alongside Season 7 of Crystalline Conflict. Adjustments have been made to the rules of the Fields of Glory (Shatter) in Frontline, and a new UI element has been introduced to make it easier for players to track scores and remaining match time.

In addition to the major updates in Patch 6.4, Yoshida also shared details about Patch 6.45, which will introduce exciting new content for players. Blue Mage, the beloved limited job, will receive an update, raising the level cap to 80 and providing new challenges, exclusive gear, and more. Players can also look forward to the new Variant Dungeon, Mount Rokkon, which offers variable difficulty based on party size, as well as the challenging Criterion Dungeon, also set in Mount Rokkon.
