Games Done Quick Summer 2021 Online begins this weekend

Games Done Quick, a grassroots organization best known for hosting the world’s premier charity speedrunning events, will draw back the curtain on Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) 2021 Online this weekend. The hotly-anticipated event features a wonderfully diverse lineup of speed runs, gameplay showcases, and competitions, all streamed live on the official Games Done Quick Twitch channel.

Last year’s event raised over $2.3 million for charity, and SGDQ 2021 Online is poised to build on 2020’s success as the most talented gamers from around the world prepare to show their skills at a variety of games from recent critically acclaimed titles to obscure indie darlings. The event runs from July 4th-11th, 2021.

Though every SGDQ 2021 run will undoubtedly be jaw-droppingly impressive, highlights of the event will include a run of Ghosts ‘N Goblins Resurrection by TheMexicanRunner, a perfect-score GeoGuessr playthrough by havrd, a four-way Ristar race between chronoon, Lizstar, ShimeGabriel, and Haram_Scaram, a blindfolded run of Super Mario 64 by Bubzia, and a Super Metroid race between Oatsngoats, Behemoth87, and ShinyZeni.

SGDQ 2021 Online will be held in support of Doctors Without Borders, with viewers able to donate on the Games Done Quick homepage in order to support the charity directly. One hundred percent of all donations received will go to the charity.
