Games for Change, the nonprofit organization that promotes social impact through games and immersive media, has announced the winners of the 2023 Games for Change Awards. The awards were presented during the live 2023 Games for Change Festival Awards Ceremony at the Times Center. The event was hosted by Andrea Rene from the popular “What’s Good Games” podcast.

The President of Games for Change, Susanna Pollack, expressed her admiration for the global creativity and innovation displayed by the award nominees. She highlighted the significance of the winning game, “Endling: Extinction is Forever,” developed by Herobeat Studios, as the Game of the Year. The game raises awareness about environmental degradation and encourages conversations about conservation, demonstrating the transformative power of games for social change.

Industry Leadership – The LEGO Group

The LEGO Group was recognized as the Industry Leadership Award recipient. The company’s commitment to providing engaging and safe digital experiences for children, combining physical and digital play, creativity, collaboration, and responsible digital citizenship, solidifies their position as exemplary industry leaders. Carolina Giuga, Senior Director at The LEGO Group, expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the importance of creating safe digital environments for children to unleash their creative potential.

Hall of Change Award – Alan Gershenfeld

Games for Change introduced the G4C Hall of Change Award and proudly recognized Alan Gershenfeld as the inaugural recipient. The Hall of Change Award celebrates an outstanding individual who has dedicated their career to advancing the field of impact games. As the first Chairperson of Games for Change and Co-Founder/President of E-Line Media, Gershenfeld has made significant contributions to the industry by seamlessly merging technology, media, and social impact through collaborations with renowned organizations such as the Gates Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, USAID, DARPA, and Google.
