Goodbye Kansas acquires stake in IGDB.com

Goodbye Kansas Game Invest have quickly established themselves as one of Sweden’s most active gaming investors. They now acquire a stake in IGDB.com, a Swedish start-up aiming to become the IMDb of the computer and video games business.

IGDB.com (Internet Gaming Database) is a Swedish start-up company aiming to become the most complete source of information regarding computer and video games, as a counterpart to IMDb (Internet Movie Database). The company was founded in 2016 by Christian Frithiof, and in 2017 Anton Westbergh (Coffee Stain Studios) joined as a private investor. The current investment is handled together with Almi Invest, Inwestbergh and Nascent.

Goodbye Kansas Game Invest’s newly appointed CEO Per-Arne Lundberg explains the background behind the investment and outlines the plans going forward.

The team at IGDB.com consists of six people and are currently located at The Game Incubator in Gothenburg.

Goodbye Kansas Game Invest have invested in several indie studios and today the company owns large stakes in Palindrome, Tarhead and Fall Damage – the studio founded by four industry veterans from DICE in 2017.   1. I just hope that they keep it purely indie and allow those guys maximum exposure and don’t start including AAA.
