MY.GAMES unveils the first-ever cross-play Open Beta for its PvPvE extraction shooter, HAWKED. Hot on the heels of its PC Open Beta success, the game is set to be playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via both Steam and MGlauncher from August 31st to September 4st.
What’s New in This Beta Phase
The Open Beta marks another milestone in the evolving landscape of HAWKED. Players will get their hands on the free Renegade Pass, unlocking exclusive launch cosmetics. Worth noting, cross-progression won’t be a feature in this beta, and the Renegade Pass progress will carry over from previous beta phases. There’s also a progression boost to help players snag those exclusive items.
Producer’s Thoughts on Player Feedback
Andy Duthie, Executive Producer for HAWKED, emphasizes the importance of community input. He reveals, “Feedback from the first OBT was incredibly helpful. This crossplay Open Beta allows us to further refine HAWKED based on a diverse range of player experiences.”
The Gameplay: What’s It All About?
Players, known as Renegades, enter a remote island called X-Isle. They vie against one another and local monsters to extract valuable Artifacts. These can be obtained through a blend of combat, puzzles, and trap avoidance. Securing and extracting these Artifacts grants the team a win, but smaller treasures offer tangible benefits for all.
Character Customization: Define Your Renegade
HAWKED provides an extensive character customization suite, from apparel and hairstyles to Artifacts and gear. These combinations allow players to define their gameplay style, whether it’s a silent assassin or a team-centric supporter.
Gear Up for the Hunt
In HAWKED, Artifacts are more than eye candy; they provide in-game bonuses like camouflage abilities or enemy detection. The game offers 21 different Artifact types, alongside 14 gear types including boomerangs and deployable covers. All these can be upgraded using in-game currency earned in the Riftwake, the game’s social space.
Dynamic Environment: X-Isle Awaits
The setting, X-Isle, is far from a static backdrop. It evolves with each match, challenging players to adapt and explore. It is home to the Disciples, a hostile faction that players must deal with. Dynamic events and challenges, like bosses carrying loot-laden howdahs, keep players on their toes.
