Legion 7 Gen 7 AMD vs Legion 7 Gen 7 Intel

After having the opportunity to review the Legion 7 Gen 7 AMD we decided to take a closer look and compare it with the Intel model. Here are two identical laptops on the outside but on the inside, two very different gaming power ecosystems built to power today’s triple A games. This is a classic heavy-weight battle between Nvidia and Intel vs the solo-standing AMD! What answers do we seek here at G-LYFE Nation? Spare us all the crazy technical over the top tests, please. We just want to know the bottom line. Which laptop will give us a better gaming experience? First, let’s take a look at the hardware under the hood.

At first glance, AMD would appear to be underpowered in both the processor and GPU departments. The Intel i9 is powered by 16 cores compared to the Ryzen 9’s 8. Intel also has a slightly faster CPU clock speed at 3.60GHz with the performance cores maxing out at 5.00 compared to AMD’s 3.30GHz up to 4.90GHz. AMD also falls short in the GPU memory department with only 12GB of DDR6 onboard compared to Nvidia’s 16GB. AMD will take one victory home in the specifications battle with their GPU clock speed at 2275Mhz compared to Nvidia’s max boost at 1582Mhz. More clock speed does however come with greater power consumption and heat though.

We decided to use Assassins Creed Valhalla’s benchmark system due to its vast open-world environments. This title will eat up your gaming power and spit it out all day on ULTRA settings. It’s hungry for GPU memory and will keep your fans on their toes in the heat of battle.

AMD achieves a peak of 186 FPS at an average of 77 FPS compared to Nvidia’s maximum at 141 FPS and 66 FPS average. Even the CPU leaned in AMD’s direction with a 31 max MS and a 13 Average MS compared to Nvidia’s 71 max MS and 15 average MS. I must admit these results aren’t too surprising. I think the gap in GPU clock speed is what makes the difference here. I do not recommend trying to overclock a laptop GPU, so this is what you get. Intel has really closed the gap with AMD in their 13th generation processors. I am excited to do this again next year. As of today, it looks like the AMD Legion 7 Gen 7 is the better purchase! GG AMD!
