Microids Records, the music label of video game publisher Microids, has announced its partnership with Respawned Records, a US-based video game music label, to offer some soundtracks from the Microids video game publisher’s catalog on vinyl. The collaboration will focus on the OST of the Toki arcade game’s remake, which was signed by French composer Raphaël Gesqua. The soundtrack is being released on vinyl for the first time and is getting a special edition, called the “Spit Ape” edition, referencing the color of the vinyl. This ultra-limited edition is available for pre-order on the Respawned Records website, with only 1,000 copies being produced.
Frédéric Claquin, VP of Microids Records, expressed his delight at the partnership and explained that Microids Records has the ambition to create limited editions in partnership with other labels in Europe or around the world. Justin Orear, the owner of Respawned Records, also expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying that Respawned Records has been producing soundtracks collaborating with great composers in the industry since 2019.
Respawned Records’ catalog includes titles such as Banjo Kazooie Re-Jiggyed, PLOK OST (SNES), Glover OST (N64), Goldeneye N64, Orchestrated, TrickStyle, Vexx, and World of Goo. Microids Records, on the other hand, is the music label of the video game publisher Microids, created in August 2022. Its main mission is to publish the soundtracks of Microids games and anime via Kana Music. Microids Records aims to position itself as a label where artists and composers are at the heart of the ecosystem. Every soundtrack or album is considered as a unique masterpiece, and the label supports every digital release and each limited edition vinyl release with special care and attention.
