Netmarble Establishes New Environmental, Social, and Corporate Government Management Council

Today, Netmarble announced it established a new Environmental, Social, and Corporate Government (ESG) Management Council with the goal of further advancing the company’s commitment to sustainable management. The council will act as the control tower for the establishment and deliberation of ESG management while working with various parties – including divisions within Netmarble and external advisor councils in various fields of corporate, academic, and NGO.

The ESG Management Council will act as the control tower for the establishment and deliberation of ESG management. The Council’s governing body will be comprised of Netmarble CEO Kwon Young-sig as President, along with Netmarble CFO Do Ki-wook and Senior Vice President Kim Sung-cheal.

The ESG Management Office will perform ESG-related activities for the Council, working closely with various parties including divisions within Netmarble and external advisory council in various fields of corporate, academic, and NGO.

Prior to the Council’s establishment, Netmarble has been conducting various efforts for sustainable management.

Netmable’s new headquarters in Seoul, ‘G-Tower’ utilizes renewable energy methods including photovoltaics(solar) and fuel cell along with recyclable and certified eco-friendly resources which are expected to reduce CO2(Carbon Dioxide) emissions by 5,300 tons annually.

Netmarble has been engaged in various social contributions based on its sincere and consistent aim to do its part for the community since the company’s founding in 2000. The’ ‘Netmarble Cultural Foundation’ was founded in 2018 to create even more valuable contributions in a wider and more involved manner.

The Netmarble Cultural Foundation actively promotes healthy gaming culture and social contribution for the disabled. Since 2009, the Foundation has held an annual ‘eFestival for Students with Disabilities to promote self-confidence and sense of accomplishment through hosting and awarding esports competitions.

In 2019, Netmarble became the first in the Korean gaming industry to establish a parasport team for the disabled. The team has since competed in various domestic and international competitions, realizing Netmarble’s vision to foster and promote sports for athletes with disabilities.

Meanwhile, Netmarble will issue its ‘Netmarble ESG Report 2021’ in the first quarter of this year to share the company’s detailed ESG direction and plans.
