Private Division and Evening Star have officially released Penny’s Big Breakaway, a 3D platformer game, now available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. This announcement was made during today’s Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase.
Game Overview
“Penny’s Big Breakaway” is developed by Evening Star, the team behind Sonic Mania, introducing a fresh kinetic 3D platformer experience. Players control Penny, the ‘yo-tagonist’, who navigates through various challenges using her yo-yo to swing, dash, flip, zip, and execute tricks across 11 game worlds and numerous levels. The objective is to evade capture by Eddie the Emperor and his penguin forces.
Gameplay and Features
The game is designed with a focus on momentum and agility, encouraging players to use the environment to their advantage. It features a Story Mode and a Time Attack Mode for competitive play. Penny’s yo-yo acts as a versatile tool, unlocking new abilities and power-ups like increased movement speed and a protective shield. It can also interact with the environment, such as breaking down walls or attaching to surfaces for exploration.
