Today marks the beginning of the highly anticipated Season of Souls in SMITE, the popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Hi-Rez Studios. With this new season, players will venture into the depths of the Greek Underworld, embarking on thrilling adventures and experiencing major gameplay changes. Underworld Conquest Map
The Conquest Map, the primary battleground in SMITE, has undergone a chilling transformation. It now immerses players in the eerie atmosphere of the Greek Underworld with its revamped visuals. The skybox has been reimagined, featuring a haunting backdrop, while skeletal architecture and colossal coffin-bearing giants dominate the landscape.
The layout of the Conquest Map has also been improved. Lane sizes and jungle paths have been tweaked to provide a better gameplay experience. These changes aim to enhance strategic decision-making and ensure a balanced and engaging battle environment.
Moreover, the Season of Souls introduces three innovative mechanics to the Conquest Map: Soul Surge, Stygian Beacon, and Unleashed Titans.
Soul Surges
In the Underworld, every divine death triggers a Soul Surge zone. When players enter this zone, they gain unique buffs. However, they must also be prepared to face aggressive Spirits drawn to the area by death. Soul Surges bring exciting twists to SMITE matches and are available in non-Conquest modes as well, adding a new layer of gameplay dynamics.
Stygian Beacon
The Stygian Beacon is a new strategic objective on the Conquest Map. Teams must vie for control over this capture zone, as it offers permanent buffs to the capturing team. Unleashed Titans
When the Stygian Beacon has been captured three times, the Titans of Order and Chaos break free from their shackles, becoming Unleashed Titans. These colossal creatures clash in a fierce showdown, wreaking havoc on the lane where they meet. Players must intervene and protect their Unleashed Titan while aiming to destroy the opponent’s Titan. All Items Changed
In a significant shift, the Season of Souls brings about a comprehensive update to all SMITE items. This update aims to rebalance the game’s itemization by decreasing the stats of Tier 3 items. Power stats have been reduced by 30%, while Health, Physical, and Magical Protection have been reduced by 15%. This adjustment aims to limit the snowballing effect of high-damage characters, creating a more strategic and balanced gameplay experience. Ranked Soft Reset and New Split
