The Best EFL Championship Players on FIFA 22

FIFA 22 delights soccer fans every year, not only because it is the top game on the market for fans, but because of the engaging Ultimate Team mode.

Ultimate Team, known as FUT, is the main reason FIFA fans buy into the game. The idea is to build your team from the ground up, sign players for in-game coins, and earn rewards for completing tasks. Every few months is a ‘season’ in FUT, and during that season, you win packs and work towards a single player reward. You might even team up with other players to achieve these goals!

Players come in many forms; the ‘standard’ players are bronze, silver and gold, split into common and rare. However, each season and promotion brings special players. For instance, the FIFA 22 Team of the Year saw several cards get big boosts, whilst the Team of the Week sees the same happen. In that instance, players not usually at the top of the game can get valuable cards issued against them.

In some instances, very average players are given powerful cards with promotions, particularly applicable to players from the English Championship. It is the second division in England, but for those diligent enough to earn the right rewards or patient enough to do squad building challenges (SBCs), some super-powered Championship players are available.

You might have missed out on them, but often special SBCs give you a chance to grab a previous player card, not on the general market. If that happens, these are a handful of those Championship players worth keeping an eye out for.

Tyler Magloire (Blackburn)

84 – Winter Wildcard

For just seven days this December, FIFA players could unlock Tyler Magloire. The defender is currently on loan at Northampton in real life, but as Real Sport 101 demonstrate, he’s certainly not fourth division when it comes to FIFA. The remarkable stat here is 91 pace; that’s excellent for a defender and very useful on a game that relies so heavily on pace.

Tahith Chong (Birmingham City)

88 – Squad Foundations

Chong isn’t great for chemistry unless you’re building a Championship squad or a Dutch squad, but he’s often found lurking on the benches of teams packed with bigger stars. Why? His 88-rated card is overpowered, not least his sprint speed of 93 and an incredible 98 shot power. He’s got four-star skill moves as well, and if he were that good in real life, Birmingham might not be lurking near the bottom of the real-life table.

Ivan Cavaleiro (Fulham)

85 – Squad Foundations

Fulham are marching towards the Premier League this season. They’re outright favorites in the current Ladbrokes betting odds, which means Cavaleiro will likely be a much better base card next season. That said, his rare gold card couldn’t hope to match his SBC card from earlier in the year. Rated 85, he brings an impressive 89 pace and 92 shot power to your team, as well as massively impressive physical stats for a striker. As he’s from Portugal, he could also be paired with plenty of other players and get good chemistry; maybe even Manchester United man Cristiano Ronaldo?

Marcus Browne (Preston North End)

87 – Storyline

The Marcus Browne card was awarded for gamers who completed the last season, and it’s one of the most ridiculously overpowered Championship cards ever. The stats pitch him almost at icon status, with only one below 80. Great physical attributes match his pace, but like Chong, he’s let down on chemistry and won’t fit easily into a squad that’s not solely Championship focused.
