Gen.G esports has announced the new roster for its Gen.G Overwatch Contenders Team, as well as its vision for the team for the upcoming ‘Overwatch Contenders Korea Season 4’.
Starting with Seong ‘WooHyaL’ Seung-hyun, the winner of Overwatch APEX, Gen.G has conducted a large-scale restructuring by acquiring players with a variety of skillsets and experience, including Choi ‘Wekeed’ Seok-woo, formerly of Overwatch League’s Dynasty, and Kim ‘Fuze’ Tae-hoon who was previously on MVP, and Ham ‘Oberon’ Eun-sang. Gen.G also strengthened its team by acquiring young and upcoming talent like Lim ‘Glister’ Gil-seong and Kim ‘Creative’ Young-wan, who are rising stars for the next generation.
“We tried our best during off-season to recover from last season, and increase our expectations of our team for the fans who are supporting Gen.G.” stated Si-woo Lee, the manager of Gen.G Overwatch Contenders Team. “We are anticipating a lot for this season with the high-quality players that have joined our team. Since our team members have gone through a number of challenges last season, we have a strong ambition to become the best team. Our coaching staff has also stepped up through challenging circumstances. We will continue to make an effort to play as a team and maximize our capacity.”
Lee also expressed his ambition, “We have a short amount of time and a lot of work to do, but our players are eagerly practicing, and we will try our best to become a team that lives up to our reputation as team ‘Gen.G’. Our team will try our best to become the potential winner in 2019 season.”
Gen.G has also brought on Park Si-hun as a scout in a talent discovery and development role. Park will focus on seeking out and developing new talent for the organization to build a strong foundation for the future.
Gen.G also ended their contracts with Um ‘Umtae’ Tae-hyeong, Kim ‘LUKE’ Hyun-jun, Bang ‘Shubil’ Min-jun, Ye ‘Agnes’ Hyun-Seo and Moon ‘LVLZ’ Sung-min, during the team reorganization.
