TwitchCon Las Vegas Drops Major Updates: What Gamers Need to Know

Twitch adds new features to Stories, Clips, and Collaborations. Plus, fresh ad tools and safety measures.

Stories on Twitch Just Got Lit

Twitch ain’t sleeping when it comes to Stories, the new feature that helps you vibe with your community. A slew of new functionalities are inbound, letting you upload short videos, tag your squad of streamers, add links, gifs, and even polls. Even better? Twitch is fine-tuning its analytics game to help you get the 411 on how your peeps are interacting with your Stories.

Level Up Your Clip Game

The clip scene is getting some love too. After the August debut of the scrollable Discovery Feed, Twitch has been gathering data to make sure their recommendations are on point. New functionality will be added to Featured Clips, helping you curate your best moments for the Discovery Feed, which by the way, have been racking up to twice the views compared to regular clips. Plus, expect an upgrade to the Clip Editor, including features like trimming and changing aspect ratios.

Stream Together is the New Guest Star

Remember Guest Star? Well, it’s out, and Stream Together is in. Designed to make streamer-to-streamer collabs easier than ever, the feature allows up to six streamers to simultaneously go live on their own channels. And for those impromptu collabs? They got you. A favorites list will let streamers know when you’re live and open for some streaming teamwork.

Custom Alerts for the Win

Heads up, emote fans! Twitch is about to let you add your custom animated emotes to Alerts. That’s not all; they’re doubling the number of animated emote slots for Affiliates and Partners. Keep an eye out for new Alerts related to third-party interactions like tipping.

More Control Over Ads

Twitch is giving streamers more control over ads, with new insights and a Chat Countdown Timer that moderators can see. The idea is to make it easier for you to decide when to run ads and measure their impact.

Deck the Halls with Holiday Promos

Aside from SUBtember, Twitch is adding a holiday promotion this December. Expect discounts on Bits and subs, plus a festive-themed Hype Train. Stay tuned for more details.

Safety First, Always

Twitch is upping its safety game by adding doxxing and swatting to its list of Off-Service Conduct behaviors. They’re also introducing Channel-Level Chat Warnings and rolling out a Smart Detection feature for AutoMod to keep your chat clean and safe.

Twitch Embeds and Simulcasting Policy Refresh

Starting Nov 1, Twitch is cracking down on autoplay for embeds that don’t comply with their policy. As for simulcasting, you’re now free to stream on any live streaming service, expanding your reach beyond Twitch’s walls.

So, if you’re part of the Twitch universe, these updates are not just fluff. They’re legit tools and features aimed to improve your streaming experience. Keep an eye out for more deets dropping in the coming months.
